Yann Aubert was born in Geneva, Switzerland. He began
his ballet training at the "Conservatiore de Musique de Genève" where he studied
for five years alongside his normal schooling. Very soon after he recieved
the very competed for Migros-Scholarships for the Academy of Music (Heinz-Bosl-Stiftung)
in Munich, for the Paris Opera Ballet School and also for the " École
de Danse de Genève". He studied one year at each school. In 1987
he recieved his Diploma as a dancer from the Swiss Head Association for Professionals
in Dance. His first engagement was then in 1987 with the Ballet Junior in
Geneva.
In 1988 he became a member of the Béjart Ballet, Lausanne under
the direction of the famous Choreographer, Maurice Béjart.
Since 1989 he danced with the world-renowned Stuttgart
Ballet under the direction of Marcia Haydée. During his many years
with the Stuttgart Ballet he performed with the company and toured all
over the world with a
very wide spectrum of classical and modern ballets in which he danced, among
others, these important roles:
- "My Father, the Hero" in "Gaité Parisienne" from
Maurice Béjart
- the Pas de Deux in "Coming Together" from
Nacho Duato
- "The Prince of the West" in Marcia Haydées "Sleeping
Beauty"
-
Solos and Pas de Deux in Hans van Manens "In and Out",
Robert Norths "Troy
Game" and John Crankos "Brouillard"
-
In "Edward II" he
danced the role created for him from David Bintley, "Lightborn,
the Executioner".
In 1996 Reid Anderson became director of the Stuttgart
ballet. Under the direction of Reid Anderson, Yann Aubert danced in 1997
the leading role of "Tybalt",
in John Crankos masterpiece, "Romeo und Juliet".
In 1997 he was invited by the Director of the Norwegian National Ballet
(Norske Opera Ballet) to come to Oslo and dance with the company. He decided to decline because it was too much distance from his family.
During his career he always took time to help others
and perform often in benefits. He gave his time for Young Choreographers
workshops to help promote
new talents. For example, he danced the Pas de Deux of "Eines Tages" from
Renato Zanella, who has become the Director and Choreographer for the Vienna
Opera House Ballet. He also performed for the Israeli Choreographer, Lior
Lev, in his ballet "Tikva" which was also invited to Israel for
the finals of the "Shades of Dance Young Choreographers Competition".
For this occasion the famous Israeli critic Giora Manor
wrote for the "Israel
Dance Magazine" August 1997, "Lior Lev brought with him from The
Stuttgart Ballet, an outstanding brilliant dancer, Yann Aubert".
Starting 1997 Yann retired
from dancing in the ballet company. After a period of re-orientation
he started to work as a manager and agent for shows and artists. From there,
he opened the Yann Aubert Agency.
Continuing the Yann Aubert Agency, Yann has started to work
teaching and coaching ballet. He has been engaged as a professor of ballet
in the Conservatory of Sion, Switzerland and as the Ballet Trainer for
the Swiss National Rhythmic Gymnastics Junior Team and training students at the Regional Centre for Rhythmic Gymnastics in Geneva
and the Swiss National Rhythmic Gymnastics Team and Artistic Gymnastics Team in Macolin/Magglingen.
